How To Never Organize Your Car Again

There is nothing worse than having to scrounge around looking for just a corner of a used napkin to clean your kid’s face before jumping out at the grocery store. No, I don’t do this to the teens anymore, but I would if they ever wanted to go anywhere with me. 😉

This video/blog post is part of a series of weekly planning activities that our family does every Sunday for a couple hours. Each activity in my weekly planning list takes just a few minutes each but will save you tons of time throughout the week.

LOVE the clear zip pouches. They are so durable and really help to keep everything in your car organized.

Remember to stand things on end rather than stack on top of each other. This technique makes it simple to find and retrieve anything you need quickly.

This is the YouTube playlist WEEKLY SCHEDULING SERIES where you can see all the videos in the series. So check them out and subscribe if you feel led to!

When you batch activities (perform similar activities in batches, e.g. wash all the laundry on one day or pay all the bills once a month) you become incredibly efficient. Set aside a block of time to complete these tasks that will be uninterrupted. Every time we become distracted, it takes an average of 15 minutes to regain complete focus. So buckle down and just do it already.

Every Sunday (or whichever day you choose for your weekly planning session) grab your printed checklist and take it with you to your vehicle to make sure that you are replenishing supplies that you’ve used throughout the week. No more running in and out of the house trying to figure out what you need or running out of napkins while you’re on the road.

There have been times when I am sick on a Sunday or a family activity got in the way of me getting my weekly planning activities completed. But then I just know that my week is going to be really chaotic until I do them. So I try to squeeze that weekly planning into Monday if at all possible. And I don’t let this happen very often because life is better when I get these tasks done when I’ve scheduled them. If you do flub up just get it done at the next possible opportunity!

Here’s that FREE CAR ORGANIZATION CHECKLIST I promised you here:

Here are the LINKS to some of my favorite items that I keep stocked in the van:

*Yes, they’re Amazon Affiliate links. No, they don’t cost anything extra. Maybe, we can pay for a child’s doctor visit.

I forgot to add that my change goes in a side door pocket! And I have a bathroom waste basket that I line with the plastic grocery sacks I keep on hand. And remember, make this system work for you. Not everyone has the same life so not everyone will have the same setup. Have fun scheduling your weekly tasks!
