Ever wonder why homeschooled kids are so cool? We don’t! When you let kids explore what interests them they’ll find they’re pretty good at some of them. And given some instruction they may just become pros.
While preparing for a homeschool conference presentation, my extremely helpful husband set up a whiteboard and his camera so I could practice my spiel. Around my house it only takes stepping out of the room for a split second for mayhem to break out.
Jared, (20), and Rebecca (17) had a lot of fun together… not always the case! When we can catch them sharing moments like these our first instinct is to memorialize them as quickly as possible. Facebook and YouTube are some of our favorite places to share these videos so later we can reminisce about our children’s younger years.
It’s important to remind our kiddos we had some really fun times as well as the hard ones. And it’s just another way to get our college kids to communicate with us when we are missing them. Try posting a video of them pretending to be a Velociraptor to their Facebook page and see how long it takes to get a response. Works EVERY time.
So, the next time your kiddos want to throw a wrench in the gears by ‘goofing off’ while you’re trying to get something ‘important’ done, consider filming them and putting that video in the vault for when they are grown and have flown the nest. You won’t regret it.
